I agree with everything that’s been said already. The colours, the skin tones, the anatomy, it’s all so gorgeous, pure eye candy I tell ya! I think I love the face the most. I really appreciate how defined the facial traits are, needless to say, I really appreciate my manly men

The details are absolutely crazy here. All the little swirls and curves in his anatomy (the ears, omg the ears! And the eyes, and lips, fghjk), the folds in the fabric, the feathers, the freckles, the ring of flowers… everything!

The time you spent on this really shows. I think it’s funny how this is a picture that, how do I explain it; can be enjoyed both as a whole and when you stop to look closer at the details. Does that make sense? Most works of art operate by the as-a-whole or the come-closer, no-closer! principle – I’m probably pulling stuff out of my ass here, but this is how I group art when I browse dA. It’s cool to see someone managing to pull of both in one

The style itself is pretty damn rad. I’ve always liked the “vintage” feel of some of your pictures, the hint of sepia and the textures. Looks freaking awesome

It's quite all right! I figured you were busy, haha. I really loved to paint his skin. I knew as soon as I saw this character I was going to enjoy painting him. African people have such an array of colors in their skin and I love making it velvety, deep, and even chocolatey (his skin is yummy to me, haha.)

I'm so happy you like it. This character came pretty easily to me while sketching and I just ran with it. Now I'm a little curious though, what's his story? If you don't wanna say in comments you can note, or if you don't want to say at all it's cool. I just enjoy doing commissions/art trades partly because I'm a story fiend. I've always loved learning about people and their worlds.
