Artist's Comments

I am in love with this album. I think I was a little off in guessing the Rake was from a victorian type period, but, ah well. I thought of him as marrying wealthy before killing his babies. Only after I heard the whole album did my interpretation of him change. Still, I like him, and this piece. Worked on it too much, for a while on and off and now I'm bored. So, done for now!

I've yet to hear anything from this album, including the Rake's Song. I simply cannot wait till the mail man brings it to me so I can sit down and listen to all of it. Ah, I love the Decemberists

Love this picture too, lovely composition and the flowers look great as well

SEND IT. COLIN MELOY WILL LOVE YOU. And Chris Funk will probably dance.

the album was really shocking. it took me a very long time to get used to a decent amount of tracks on the crane wife, so i was kind of worried...but i loved this album so much. <33

good interpretation. I love the colors.

WOOOO Omg I have the biggest crush on Colin Meloy. He's the smartest most awesomest most cool---lol. But yes, I shall. I'm just nervous!

What was shocking to you? The story and such? It took me two times through the whole way to get the entire story and I LOOOOVE IT. I'm so pleased, and I like the female guests a lot, especially the Queen. GREAT voice choice there.

Thanks muchly, dear!

Oh nothing, I was just shocked that I didn't have to get used to it at all. I didn't like the voice on Isn't It a Lovely Night... The other one though, whoa. <3

I don't blame you. Colin Meloy is very, very lovely. hahaha. Damn you, Carson Ellis...juuust kidding.

This is a gorgeous illustration for an equally gorgeous album. I get chills listening to this song in particular, and you've really captured it well. It was very clever to hide his face with the foxglove.

Uhhh, yeah. Isn't It a Lovely Night is probably my least favorite song. The lady who "plays" Margaret does a nice job in Won't Want for Love (Love that), but there's something about the terrifying, angry, egotistical voice for the Queen that really gets me. She gives me shivers. I actually looked up the singer's music, I definantly like her better with the Decemberists music, it's well suited to her.

Guh, this album is just gorgeous, and I love how you described the relationships of the characters ti simply. :)

So there's the foxglove, matches, and I'm guessing the bottle is full of water?

I tried sending my Crane Wife image to The Decemberists' site, but the email never went through. :iconmonkeyslunch: tried with one of his as well, and no luck. :( Let me know if it works for you. :)

Mhmm, I wholeheartedly agree. :)
Colin Meloy's voice is so much stronger in this, too, it's amazing!! It used to be that if he'd hold notes for so long his voice would sort of string out and lose power (which I still loved hearing <3 his voice is always so comforting), but everything is so so so strong and it's great.
